Basia, An Integrated Wellness Company Connecting Fitness Products, Content, and Data
Basia is a government-certified preliminary social enterprise in Korea that delivers integrated healthcare services by synergizing physical exercise products with digital content. Utilizing its extensive trainer network and global supply chain, Basia provides premium group exercise programs and professional instructors to domestic hotels, high-end fitness clubs, and public organizations. Furthermore, the company develops customized wellness programs for vulnerable populations—including pregnant/postpartum women, seniors, and multicultural migrant women—providing them with both tailored services and supportive products. Basia was founded in March 2019 by CEO Suhee Ryu.

The company’s signature offerings include the ‘EmboRing’ exercise tool and its proprietary NFC-based group exercise data collection system. EmboRing is a multifunctional self-care tool designed to relieve muscle tension, improve mobility, and support posture correction through simple movements, facilitating recovery, stretching, and posture correction. Currently, the tool and its accompanying programs are utilized in hundreds of locations, including public health centers, senior centers, universities, and fitness facilities, gaining significant traction not only in Korea but also in the U.S., Germany, and Vietnam.

“Our NFC-based group exercise data platform is designed to improve efficiency to group fitness management in both the public and private sectors”, said CEO Ryu. “Traditionally, while group classes were held, there was no structural way to retain data after the session, making it difficult to analyze program efficacy. Basia utilizes NFC technology to automatically collect participation logs and behavioral data, providing monthly dashboards that analyze attendance trends, program preferences, and peak activity times.”

This system enables institutions to manage programs based on objective data while allowing participants to manage their health more systematically based on their personal exercise records.

Basia’s competitive advantage lies in its integrated ecosystem that combines equipment, content, and data. Rather than simply selling products, the company provides field-proven exercise programs, instructor training, and easy-to-follow content to maximize actual usability and effectiveness.

By integrating NFC technology, Basia offers a data-driven service that enhances operational efficiency for institutions while providing personalized fitness experiences for individuals. Additionally, Basia’s content is developed by a team of exercise experts with over 20 years of industry experience (holding Master’s and Doctoral degrees), ensuring high credibility for their life-cycle-specific programs tailored for everyone from expectant mothers to seniors.

This year, Basia is focusing on the full-scale deployment of its NFC-based participation data system.

“Group exercise programs have traditionally been managed primarily by participant numbers, making it difficult to objectively assess efficiency or impact”, Ryu explained. “By building a system that automatically analyzes participation patterns and program effectiveness via NFC tags, we allow public and private centers to manage program operations and budget execution more effectively. Ultimately, our goal is to establish a data-driven GX operational model and standardized manuals to expand into more advanced wellness management services”

Regarding her future vision, Ryu outlined three key goals: “First, I want Basia to become a leading company in the integrated exercise service platform sector where programs, equipment, and data converge. Second, I aim for our proprietary programs and products to become essential daily health tools in the global market. Finally, through our data analysis system, I want to establish a new industry standard where the operation of group exercises—previously reliant on intuition and experience—is transformed into a data-driven industry standard.”
