두 보험 사기꾼

Three retired guys sat on a bench in Palm Beach.

“How do you get here?” the first asked.

“I had a textile factory and did pretty well for a long time. Then competition from down south got fierce.

One day my water pipes burst and ruined all my machinery.

I retired and came here on the insurance money. How about you?”

The first guy replied, “I had a box company and was doing well. Then the price of materials shot up, and I nearly went broke--until a fire destroyed my whole plant. Luckily I was insured, and I moved down here.”

He turned to the third man.

“And what brought you here?”

“My clothing factory did okay, but when Asian manufacturers started underselling me,

I thought I would go bankrupt. Then a hurricane flattened the building.

I got the insurance and came here.”

The other two asked, “How do you make a hurricane?”

“난 직물공장을 잘 운영하고 있었어요. 그러다가 중남미 지역과의 아주 치열한

경쟁에 직면했어요. 그러던 어느 날 수도관이 터져서 기계가 온통 엉망이 돼버렸어요.

그래서 은퇴해 보험금을 받아가지고 이리로 온 겁니다. 당신은요?”

첫 번째 사내에게 물었다. “난 상자 공장을 잘 운영하고 있었어요.

그러다가 자재 값이 폭등하는 바람에 파산할 뻔했는데 화재로 공장이 폭삭 망했어요.

다행히 보험에 들어 있었기에 이리로 와서 지내게 된 겁니다.”

그는 세 번째 사내에게 물었다. “그런데 당신은 어떻게 돼서 왔어요?”

“내가 운영하는 의류 공장이 성업 중이었는데 아시아 업자들이 덤핑을 하는 바람에 파산하는 줄 알았어요. 그러다가 허리케인이 공장을 휩쓸어 버렸어요. 그래서 보험금을 받아가지고 이리로 왔죠.”

그러자 다른 두 사내가 물었다. “허리케인은 어떻게 조작하는 거죠?”
