노벨라, 단편소설 공모전 두 달간 365편 응모…4편 선정

작가용 글쓰기 도구 '노벨라'를 운영하는 노벨라스튜디오는 두 달간 진행된 한국 오컬트 단편소설 공모전 ‘경계에 선 존재들’을 성료했다고 4일 밝혔다. 2022년 7월 론칭한 AI기반의 글쓰기·구독 서비스 ‘노벨라’는 오픈 이후 하루 평균 소설책 150권 분량의 원고가 꾸준히 업로드 되며 안정적인 창작자풀을 확보하고 있다. 지난해 9월 유료 서비스로 전환한 이후에도 성장세를 이어가고 있으며, 현재까지 앱 내 누적 글자 수는 약 76억 자에 달한다. 노벨라는 이번 공모전을 통해 창작자 풀을 통한 원작 IP 직접 발굴에 나섰다. 소설 IP를 단행본 출판과 함께, 당선작 중 한 편은 영상화 등 OSMU(One Source Multi Use) 우선 검토 및 지원이 이뤄진다. 365편의 응모작이 접수된 이번 공모전은 예심과 본심을 거쳐 김현석 작가의 〈기타 세 명〉, 권휘 작가의 〈꽃자국〉, 양수빈 작가의 〈여덟 달 반〉, 백발중 작가의 〈뱀〉 등 총 4개 작품이 선정됐다. 심사에는 문학계 및 장르 전문가는 물론 다양한 산업계 인사도 참여했다. 2010년 단편 '체이서'로 등단한 문지혁 소설가, 호러 콘텐츠 창작 레이블 '괴이학회' 소속 사마란 작가가 문학적 완성도와 장르 감각을 살폈고, 드라마 제작사 알트스튜디오 왕지민 기획팀장과 한국영상대학교 박성환 교수가 영상화 가능성과 장르적 완결성 등을 함께 검토했다 선정작 4편은 앤솔로지 ‘경계에 선 존재들’로 이번 가을 전자책과 종이책으로 출간된다. 특히, 이 중 대중성과 영상화 가능성이 가장 높은 1편은 영상화 제작이 지원될 예정이다. 해당 작품명은 추후 별도 발표된다. 이번 공모전을 기획한 정다현 노벨라
